Putting Community First

Victorville is more than just a city to me — it is my home, my passion, and my purpose.

As your Mayor and City Council member, my journey has always been driven by one core belief: putting our community first. In this blog, I want to share my vision for our city and the initiatives I believe will help us build a brighter future together.

Enhancing Public Safety

Public safety remains a top priority for our growing community. As Victorville expands, our police department must grow with it to ensure every neighborhood is secure. I have strongly advocated for the creation of a new police station on Civic Drive and Seneca as part of a larger Civic Center project. This new facility will help streamline our operations and enhance our public safety infrastructure.

Additionally, I believe in the power of community policing. Building trust between our community and law enforcement, especially among our youth, is essential. Programs that foster positive interactions and understanding can significantly reduce crime and build stronger community bonds. My support for a public safety oversight committee further emphasizes the importance of transparency and accountability in maintaining public trust.

Creating Job Opportunities

Economic development is another cornerstone of my campaign. Many of our residents commute long distances for work, and I aim to change that by collaborating with corporations to bring high-wage jobs to Victorville. Supporting major infrastructure projects like the high-speed rail with Brightline and potential Metrolink expansions will create local job opportunities and stimulate our economy.

Workforce development is also crucial. By partnering with local educational institutions, we can equip our residents with the skills needed for careers in emerging industries such as technology, renewable energy, and advanced manufacturing. These initiatives will not only provide better job opportunities but also retain our talent within Victorville.

Improving City Services

A well-serviced community is a thriving community. I am committed to expanding library services, promoting the use of electric vehicles, and enhancing our public transportation system. Libraries are more than just places to borrow books; they are community hubs where residents can learn, connect, and grow. By introducing more programs and updating facilities, we can make our libraries even more impactful.

Transitioning to electric vehicles within the city’s fleet will reduce emissions and save money in the long run. Expanding our public transportation system to be more efficient and accessible will provide affordable and eco-friendly travel options for our residents. These initiatives are designed to ensure a sustainable and forward-thinking future for Victorville.

Conclusion

Victorville is not just where I live; it’s a part of who I am. My dedication to this community motivates me every day to work towards a safer, more prosperous, and engaged Victorville. By putting “Community First,” we can build a city we are all proud to call home. I invite you to join me in this journey and together, we can achieve great things for Victorville.
