District 3 Victorville City Council

About Liz.

Liz Becerra’s family history in Victorville dates back to the 1920s when they lived on E Street among other Hispanic families who had moved to the area. She grew up playing basketball for the Victor Valley Jackrabbits and started her first job at 18 at the former Southwest Portland Cement Plant, now Cemex, on D Street.

Shortly after, Liz began her career with the city of Victorville in the public works department, where she would spend the rest of her career. Liz started as a public works laborer and eventually progressed to the rank of supervisor before her retirement. Her deep love for Victorville and passion for community service inspired her to run for City Council, where she has been honored to serve since 2020.

As a council member, Liz has supported the passing of Measure P, generating funds for public safety and quality-of-life initiatives. She has advocated for a new police station and more deputies to address the city’s growing needs, and she has worked to bring better jobs to Victorville by collaborating with corporations and supporting high-wage job projects. Liz believes in serving the community by ensuring residents have a voice in city matters and improving city services, including expanding library resources and promoting the use of electric vehicles.
Liz and her family are active members of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Old Town Victorville, where she volunteers in church-sponsored food distribution and charitable activities. Woodworking is her stress-relieving hobby, and she enjoys creating projects in her woodworking shop.
Liz believes in building a Victorville that reflects pride and dedication to the community. “Of the community, for the community” isn’t just a slogan; it’s her commitment to you.
